The Chihuahua is a graceful, alert and swift-moving little
guy with a saucy expression. They are highly intelligent
animals. They are commonly called the "purse dog".
The coat is either long or short and solid or marked with a
splash of color. Some believe that they originated from
the Fennec Fox, a very small animal with big eyes and
ears. They were used in religious ceremonies as well as
serving as pets for the upper class.
They are good with families if the children are gentle and
patient. They require little exercise and are good city
dogs. Minimal grooming is needed for long or short
haired breeds.
They are very small framed not exceeding 6 lbs. in weight.
